Thistles Coffee Shop is family run with strong family values at its core.
We strive to provide the best selection of homemade foods ensuring an ethical source and a tasty presentation. We keep things simple while delivering on service, value and choice. Nothing is too much trouble and the experience of our customers both in the coffee shop and at our events is at the core of everything we do.

THE 'THISTLE'
Our Coffee Shop is situated on the Main Street in West Calder.
It is named after one of West Calder’s best-known landmarks the Thistle Tower, which was built by local businessman and benefactor John Thomson or ‘Pie Jock’ as he was affectionately known.
The Thistle Tower once stood proudly in the East End of our village.
Such a strong feature and much loved part of West Calder, it was a natural inspiration for us, therefore we added an ‘S’ and ‘Thistles Coffee Shop & Catering’ began trading in 2011.
Our Coffee Shop was once part of the menswear and drapery department of the West Calder Co-operative Society and the ‘Store’ clock is visible from our coffee shop.
